We are the largest software branch of Scheidt & Bachmann Slovensko. Our story began in 2015, when company Scheidt & Bachmann saw our team’s potential and took us under their wing. And so, our shared story continues successfully to these days.
Today, there are more than 70 of us. You’ll find students, recent graduates, handsome developers, active mom developers, seasoned software architects, and experienced product owners.
We learn from each other, tease and encourage one another, and recharge our batteries at team-building events. Our diversity is both an advantage and a driving force for innovation.
In addition to our office address, we’re united by the product we’re working on Account-based Ticketing. Although each of our teams works on a different part of it, together we’re creating a product that will simplify travel for millions of people around the world.
At Scheidt & Bachmann, we are pioneers of the agile Scrum methodology. Thanks to it, we achieve the best results. Every day we work at 200 % – 100 % in the morning and 100 % in the afternoon. We start the morning with coffee and a short standup, where we share what we’ve been working on and what we’ll be tackling that day. Lunch is a social event that brings even the biggest introverts to life. After lunch, we refuel with coffee, and by early evening, we’ve finished our work, so we head home.
We develop software in three-week cycles – sprints. We wrap them up with a retrospective where we evaluate how we did and add a few suggestions on how we could work even better. We share the results with our clients and other teams, so they always have a clear picture of what we’re working on.

We are the largest and most numerous team in Bratislava. Our top priority is the development of an innovative fare collection system called Account-Based Ticketing (ABT), after which we are named. Our six development teams use the JAVA programming language to develop individual components of this product, such as security, payments, tariffs, and accounting. The integration team brings their outputs together so that they function as a cohesive and well-functioning back office. Subsequently, the deployment team ensures that we can and know how to install the system for customers in various corners of the world. Our product owners oversee the coordination between stakeholders and development teams. They help define the product vision, manage and prioritize the product backlog (list of requirements), communicate with stakeholders, and, most importantly, work closely with the development team to ensure the final product meets customer needs. In addition, we have highly experienced and skilled software and systems architects who are constantly coming up with innovative technical solutions for our product.

Our team is named after our largest customer, which uses our ABT fare collection system. Translink is responsible for managing and operating the national electronic fare collection system in the Netherlands, which is used by 1.5 million passengers daily. Our mission is to ensure that passengers in this country can travel easily, comfortably, and stress-free using only their credit or debit card, or an OV-Pas card, which they tap on validators in any public transportation vehicle. An interesting fact is that our system, under the Translink brand, is used by both private and public transport operators throughout the country. Together with colleagues from the Netherlands and representatives of Translink, we form an international team with a common goal – satisfied passengers across the Netherlands who benefit from innovative solutions.

We are the operational team responsible for running the DVV system, or the “Dúbravka Virtual Train.” This is our internal system, which we use to test whether the ABT product meets stability and throughput requirements. We have 6 validators installed at various locations in our office, which colleagues can use to “travel” during work hours. Whenever they walk past a validator, they can tap their card and buy a ticket for the virtual train – and get off at any time by tapping again on any validator. In addition, scripts run continuously in the background, sending “taps” (ticket purchases) to our system. This way, our system processes up to 3 million trips and 600,000 product purchases (e.g., e-wallet top-ups) daily. Thanks to this, DVV is the largest ABT system ever. And thanks to it, we know and guarantee that the ABT product can run 24/7 at full capacity for the customer. Our team’s mission is to thoroughly care for, pamper, maintain, and, last but not least, optimize the system so that we maximize the number of virtual tickets sold for every 1€ of operating costs (AWS cloud costs).

We are the only team in Bratislava that also works with field devices. Together with our colleagues from Germany, we are Linux specialists. We use it to develop software for devices such as ticket validators and ticket vending machines. We work on automated installation, continuous integration, as well as device initialization and configuration. It’s interesting work where you never have time to get bored, and thanks to a great team, we always look forward to coming to work.

“Software development is a team effort where good relationships are essential. On a technical level, we can argue – that’s what drives our company forward. But I appreciate it when, even after a heated technical discussion, we can go for a beer with colleagues and chat about everyday things.”
“The reason I stay at S&B is simple – I constantly have the opportunity to dive into something new and interesting.”
“I’ve been working with some colleagues since 2000, and I’ve known others since our university days. We’ve been through a lot together, gone through our ‘baptism by fire,’ and yet our team has stayed together and continues to work great. Many new people have joined us, and that’s a good thing. Over all these years, I can’t recall any serious conflict or problem. I don’t mean technical problems – after all, solving them is part of our job. I have a great team – they’re all wonderful people and excellent professionals.”
“What I can always count on is that in a time of need, there’s always someone on the team who can help, offer advice, or point the way to a solution. And that’s why we’ve been able to overcome every obstacle so far. We learn ´on the job´ and at our own pace, but in the end, it’s the sum of our knowledge that helps create the result. And even in today’s age of the internet and artificial intelligence, colleagues are often the best source of information. And the sweet reward is when I, can help someone with my knowledge in return.”
“Our team is excellent – Laci has built it up brilliantly. We’re also very strong and professional from a technological standpoint. The company follows state-of-the-art best practices not only in theory but also in practice. I recommend it not only for its high-quality corporate culture and modern technologies, but also for the opportunity to influence the direction of development and the technical solutions used. I also appreciate the constant drive for improvement, the professional environment, open communication, and teamwork.”

In Bratislava, we’re located at Dúbravská cesta 4 in the WestEnd Court building. The highway leads right to us, the train tracks are right outside our window, and one of the city’s busiest bus stops is right in front of the building.
Our entire office is an oasis of greenery and innovative software ideas. Our largest meeting room is a place not only for retrospectives but also for active relaxation at the table tennis tournament.
The most popular spot is the kitchen – it’s the central gathering and recharging point. As our teams grow, so does the kitchen, and it’s always busiest after lunch.
The entire teams meet in the office at least twice a week. We value face-to-face interaction –it’s where the best solutions emerge, which we then work diligently on from home.
