SW Market teams

We are creating several agile software teams, divided according to the market for which they deliver fare collection solutions. These markets include the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, the United States, and Canada. Each country has its own specific characteristics, to which we adapt the software we develop. Despite the different markets, our teams are closely connected and very similar.

Each team consists of a diverse mix of IT specialists – software developers, testers, release engineers, scrum masters, product owners, and DevOps specialists. Most teams are international, and there are more than 50 of us in Slovakia.

We focus on development, partly on backend systems, and the operation of innovative systems for passenger equipment – from ticket machines, validators, and subway gates to fareboxes. We handle everything from the implementation of new functionalities, through testing and automation, to deployment and support in live operation.

Every day, we see the real results of our work in practice. Millions of passengers around the world use them. We influence the quality of travel and the modernization of public transport. The basis of our success is the flexibility of our agile teams, international know-how, and the stability of our company.

What we stand for

  • Frontend and devices – we love to see our work come to life on automatic ticket machines, subway gates, and validators that the public uses every day.
  • Integration – we enjoy working on complex systems that handle thousands of transactions a day and can connect different modes of transport.
  • Testing and quality – our work brings stability and reliability – when a validator or gate works, it's also thanks to us.
  • Agile way of working – we work in 3-week sprints, get quick feedback, and have the opportunity to constantly improve.
  • Teamwork – we support each other, whether it's fixing bugs, learning new technologies, or helping new colleagues.
  • International context – we learn from the differences between markets and apply the experience we gain in practice.
  • Open communication – regular retrospectives and stand-ups allow us to solve problems and find practical solutions.
  • Innovation and learning – we use modern technologies and tools, we are not afraid of new approaches, we share our know-how, and we support the personal growth of each team member.

Our technology

Our teams

We are the largest market team with a portfolio of solutions for public transport operators in the UK and Ireland.

You will find our solutions from London to Manchester to Glasgow and Dublin. Our international team is equally diverse, consisting of developers, testers, release engineers, and deployment specialists from Slovakia, the UK, Ireland, and Germany. Thanks to this diversity, we can work effectively across Europe and deliver systems to our customers that work quickly, reliably, and without delay – just like our sprints.

A specific feature of our market is the use of the ITSO card standard, which is the basis for electronic tickets, and cooperation with the RDG (Rail Delivery Group), which represents rail transport operators in the United Kingdom. These standards require a high degree of compatibility and security.

Our motto: "Time is relentless!" – captures the dynamics and responsibility that working in transportation requires. And it's not just a phrase – it's our way of life, especially when a deadline is approaching.

UK/IE team

CA Team

Our team provides modern solutions for the Canadian market, which demands high quality, stability, and reliability of equipment in real-world operation. You can find our products in cities such as Toronto, Ottawa, Kitchener, and London.

We are a group of diverse people from different corners of Canada and Slovakia with a common goal – to simplify and streamline travel in Canada. Some enjoy running, some enjoy weight training, others enjoy hiking, and most are big fans of Harry Potter. We are developers, release engineers, testers – girls and boys. Despite our diversity, we can laugh at retrospectives, we go straight to the point at stand-ups, and we reap success for our work at reviews. The time difference between the teams in Žilina and Canada is a challenge for us, requiring effective communication and good planning. A bonus is a business trip to Canada, where – whether in the cold or in the sun, at a subway station or directly at the customer's depot – we verify the results of our work.

Our motto: "Coffee first, work second." None of us can imagine a morning without coffee, and a good mood is the basis for quality work.

Our team specializes in the development, integration, testing, deployment, and maintenance of software for public transport operators in the US. Our portfolio includes cities such as New York, Boston, Phoenix, Chicago, and many others. Our international team consists of more than 30 IT specialists from Slovakia and Boston. Despite the 6 to 9-hour time difference, we are perfectly coordinated. And the results of our work speak for themselves. Thanks to our software, the systems that transport millions of Americans every day are up and running. This is a great honour and a commitment for us. When we're not working, one of our favourite pastimes is looking for our devices in Hollywood movies, where they occasionally appear as extras.

An interesting feature of our market is fareboxes and CRS – devices used to purchase tickets directly on buses. You will only find them in the US or Canada.

Our motto: "Welcome to Market Team US, a place where everything is possible."

US Team

DACHI Team

Our team's name comes from the abbreviations of the countries for which we supply innovative passenger equipment solutions: D (Deutschland – Germany), A (Austria), CH (Confœderatio Helvetica – Switzerland), and I (Italia – Italy). They are used by public transport operators in cities such as Munich, Stuttgart, Bonn, Bolzano, and Vienna.

Our team works like a Swiss Army knife – it is multifunctional and always ready to spring into action – and at the same time like an international jigsaw puzzle. Development and DevOps are done in Slovakia, while testing and deployment take place in Germany. Each piece of our work is created in a different country, but together we form a single functioning whole. Thanks to this combination, we can respond quickly, collaborate effectively, and enjoy cultural exchange. This diversity makes us flexible, resilient, and ready for any challenge. We develop, integrate, test, and deploy software with a touch of Slovak humour that runs like Swiss clockwork. Of course, after implementation, we take exemplary care of it.

Our motto: "Patching is the right way" – because we believe that even a small fix can have a big impact.

Meet colleagues

"I like the company's stability and the fact that it creates an almost family-like environment – in the best sense of the word. It has clearly defined values that are not just on paper but actually help in decision-making, especially in more challenging situations. And as a bonus, I get an extra day of vacation every two years, which is a small but very nice detail. I also appreciate the trust the company places in its people and the opportunity to grow in an environment where your opinion counts."

Juraj
Scrum master

"Scheidt & Bachmann supplies systems that make travel easier for millions of people around the world, so this kind of work gives me a sense of purpose. I also like the pleasant working environment based on the company's values and the cooperation with excellent colleagues. International projects bring many challenges that push you forward and give you access to modern technologies."

Jozef
Product Owner

"As a multipotentialite, I hoped to find a job that would give me the opportunity to apply my versatile technical knowledge and skills instead of focusing excessively on a specific area. At Scheidt & Bachmann, I found such a job as a Release Engineer. What's more, there is a friendly, sometimes even familiar atmosphere regardless of job position or team, good salary, and the opportunity to visit colleagues across the Atlantic or customers."

Martin
Release Engineer

"At Scheidt & Bachmann, I have found stability, space for growth, and a team that makes sense. I like that there are always new projects for the Canadian market that are diverse and dynamic. Teamwork is excellent, and the opportunity to travel to Canada is a bonus for me."

Ivan

"There is a friendly atmosphere here that is great for working. The team is great – people are willing to help, give advice, and even laugh together. We work in modern IT center facilities that create a pleasant environment. In short, Scheidt & Bachmann is a place where I feel good – both as an employee and as a person."

Juraj
Scrum Master

"I came into contact with Scheidt & Bachmann while studying at university. I was particularly attracted by the dynamic working environment, modern technologies, and very good market position. The modern premises, chill zone with a climbing wall, table tennis, billiards, and Xbox were also a big draw and add to the pleasant atmosphere."

Michal
Product Owner

"At 'Bachman', as we employees call our company, I mostly appreciate the great people, the friendly atmosphere, and the opportunity to work on various international projects. The space for personal development and self-realization is also a big plus."

Patrik
SW Tester

"Scheidt & Bachmann appealed to me because it is a company with a history that pushes the world of mobility forward with its innovations every year. It is a dynamic company that captures trends, keeps up with the times, and makes life easier and travel more accessible and safer. You get to work with all areas of IT and come into contact with both software and hardware development."

Daniel
DevOps Engineer

Where to find us

The Slovak market teams are based in large, bright offices in the modern IT center in Žilina at Priemyselná 14. We also spend a lot of time in the huge testing rooms in the middle of the center, where all the necessary hardware that comes to life with our software is located. From there, just go up the stairs and you're in the sports zone. We compensate for our sedentary profession there, for example, with foosball, table tennis, workouts, or on the climbing wall. However, our favourite space is the kitchen, where we enjoy our morning and afternoon coffee. We regularly alternate between the office and working from home, although the atmosphere and fun are better when we work from the office.
