In the organisational tables, you will find our Slovak-German team under the name “POS I. “ (short for Point Of Sale I.). It refers to the product we are actively developing on a daily basis in an agile way.
During one of our stand-ups, we put our heads together, let our imaginations run wild, and then voted for the best team name. The winner was “Code & Go“, which better reflects the way we work. We don't mess around, we do what needs to be done to the best of our ability and move on. Simple, fast and effective.“
Without strong cooperation, we wouldn't be able to move forward. We programme in pairs, share knowledge, support each other and always help when someone gets stuck. We also support each other in coming up with ideas, because we like to innovate and new technologies are challenges that we enjoy overcoming.
We are not afraid to solve complex problems or experiment. We focus on details and place great emphasis on the quality of the software we deliver. Although we work in a rapidly changing environment of requirements, we do not compromise on the quality of our deliveries.
Although each of us is different, we are all optimists.
We may not say much, but when we do speak, it's worth listening to. We maintain a positive attitude in (almost) every situation. When bad days come, we know that better days are on the way. After all, we have each other and a pleasant working environment that we enjoy returning to.
Some teams have a motto, we have our favourite song:
We work on full stack projects, i.e. on both the frontend and backend, using the latest technologies and agile development methods.
At regular intervals, we plan, do stand ups, complete sprints and evaluate in order to build and maintain the core of a robust Point of Sale (POS) solution, i.e. a cash register system for petrol stations. It also includes Forecourte, which ensures communication with other hardware at the petrol station and covers important processes such as pump handling, tank level monitoring, price displays, receipt printing, tax calculation (in billions of euros per year) and sales fiscalisation. Without POS, a petrol station cannot function. That is why our work is so important.
Every day, we make sure that our software works accurately, reliably and meets all requirements – customer, functional and regulatory. We test new features, detect bugs and ensure that the system and new features work flawlessly in various real-life scenarios.
Each member of our team is a specialist in their field. One is an expert in hardware, another in “old world“ software, and another is a lover of developer news. Without an experienced tester, a skilled Release Engineer, a knowledgeable Product Owner, and the exemplary care of our Scrum Master, our team would not be complete and competent to deliver software that is high-quality, stable, reliable, and easy to use.
As we operate in Mönchengladbach, Germany, and Žilina, Slovakia, we have offices in both cities. In Žilina, we are located at Priemyselná 14 in building B (the attractive brick building perpendicular to Priemyselná Street). Our office is on the 2nd floor.
In Mönchengladbach, our modern ground-floor office was created by converting a former production hall.
In our offices, we enjoy a relaxed working atmosphere, breaks to replenish our fluids and shared lunches. When we need a quieter environment to think, we work from home.
"I recommend Scheidt & Bachmann to any developer looking for a place to develop their skills and advance their career. The company invests heavily in its employees, offering great training benefits, challenging projects and clear career paths. If you want to work on developing impressive software with innovative technologies, you've come to the right place. You'll be part of a team that pushes boundaries and creates solutions that make a real difference."
"I appreciate the open communication, supportive atmosphere and strong focus on quality. Scheidt & Bachmann has a good balance between structure and flexibility – it gives us the tools and freedom to do our best. What's more, working with intelligent and motivated colleagues makes every day interesting and enriching. It's also a place where testers are seen as a key part of the development process, not just an additional cost. The work is meaningful, the projects are challenging in a good way, and the culture encourages learning and collaboration. You're not just doing a job – you're helping to build something that people really use and rely on every day.“
“Other companies make products, but Scheidt & Bachman creates value. I like that family (not just the company family) comes first here.“
“I wanted to work for a stable company that emphasises career development, new technologies and a family approach to its employees. I found all of that here.“
