From 0 to 150 (in 9 years)

|   Fare-Collection-Systems

Some cars can do it in seconds. It took our colleagues from Bratislava 9 years. Too much or not enough? Depends on how you take it. And there's no 150 like a 150! Considering the agile software development of the same product, it's a respectable performance that deserves celebration and a sweet reward.

Our Bratislava software branch was established in March 2015 and already in May 2015 it kicked off the development of its heart and very useful product for public transport passengers – ABT, or Account-based Ticketing – with the 1st sprint. This is how the cornerstone of agile software development was laid throughout Scheidt & Bachmann. This method has completely transformed the functioning of the entire Fare Collection Systems division, of which the Bratislava teams are a part, and has gradually taken root in other divisions of Scheidt & Bachmann worldwide.

Today, 9 years later, the Bratislava branch is reporting another significant milestone – it has already completed its 150th sprint! And so, the colleagues indulged in a small celebration, where, in addition to enjoying a delicious chocolate cake, they also found a space for taking stock.

"We have been working on the same theme since we started at Scheidt & Bachmann. We started the development of ABT on a green field. We are gradually developing the product to cover the needs of the end customers. It comes in two versions. One for Translink systems (TLS), a company that operates a nationwide fare collection service in the Netherlands. The second version, ABTcore, forms the basis for all other customers. The project teams in Žilina then adapt this version to the needs of the specific public transport operator. In September 2022, due to the diversification of the product, we have also adapted the structure of our teams – the first part is dedicated to the TLS project and the others are dedicated to the development of the ABTcore product itself," Laci Medveczky, Head of the Bratislava office, explains and adds: "Despite these organizational changes, we kept the sprint length the same for both groups of teams and thanks to that, we were able to celebrate the 150th round anniversary all together!”
