For the tenth time, we prepared an unforgettable excursion for students

    - Human-Resources

Every year the students from the University of Žilina can sign themselves up for the excursion, thanks to which they know our company: Slovak subsidiary and also the headquarters in Germany. Take a look at the backstage of the tenth jubilee excursion.

The best students of the Faculty of Management Science and Informatics and Faculty of Electrical Engineering received an invitation which can’t be declined – a 4-day trip, during which they are treated by the Scheidt & Bachmann company. They travel 2.400 km to get to know our company and German culture, including the atmosphere of the Bundesliga match. In return, we do not want anything, but we will be very happy if they become our colleagues in the future.

Tenth anniversary: former participants look back

Up to 86 students took part in our excursion during these 10 years. 26 of them stayed with us and worked here during their studies. 14 of them have been still our colleagues.

“I was part of the 2010 excursion to the Scheidt & Bachmann‘s parent company. It was an awesome event and I got to know some cool people. We attended the football match with amazing atmosphere and we visited the world-known Cologne Cathedral. On top of that, I learned a lot about the company, its 4 divisions and the tour of the production hall was a great experience. During the excursion, I really liked the field of business, in which the company Scheidt & Bachmann operates and also its family atmosphere. These are the reasons, why I started working here and I`ve been still working here to this day,“ said Ing. Jozef Breziansky, the team leader of one of the software teams in the Fare Collection Systems.

“I’d been working at Scheidt & Bachmann in 2014 for 2 months as a support developer, as I got the invitation for the excursion in Germany. Until then, I`d been just developing some code, that was missing a practical application – it was too abstract. After visiting Germany, where they presented us every department of the company, I saw the real physical devices, that our company produces. Thanks to this, I could understand the meaning in my job as well as in company activities. And up to now, I am a part of it. I would advise the students to go there, just for this kind of experience,“ said Ing. Zdenko Pavlík, software developer in the department of the Fuel Retail Solutions.

Even this year’s students were more than satisfied with the excursion: “The program and whole excursion were amazing. The Scheidt & Bachmann company has my big admiration for organizing this kind of event and allowing students to experience the company from another point of view,“ observed Lukáš Žatko. “It is a great life experience,“ concluded Dávid Ďureček.

During the excursion, the students could see the backstage of our company in Slovakia as well as in Germany. They attended a tour of the production hall in Žilina, with explanation of the whole production process, and then they travelled to the German headquarters, where the representatives presented their software and hardware development in each department.

The German headquarters vs. Slovak branch

The students attended a tour of the production in Mönchengladbach, so they could compare it with the Slovak one. “What caught my attention was the fact, that both of the areas had identical exterior, when it comes to design of the buildings. I also liked the fact ,that students had their own space for their practical training,“ said Vladimír Oravec. „I liked the German headquarters more, because I saw several production departments. On the other hand, Slovaks have cleaner workplace,“ laughed Tibor Poštek. Dušan Tichý quickly responded: “The German headquarters is naturally bigger, and that makes better impression. But even the Slovak branch in Žilina has its own charm.’’ Dávid Stajsko agreed with him: “The Slovak branch is newer, better arranged and it has a modern working area. Slovaks develop and produce really interesting projects.“ Lukáš Žatko closed the whole discussion: “Both places left a good impression. You can see, that there is friendly atmosphere inside the whole company.“

    Wandering the German cities

We always prepare an interesting accompanying program for the students. The tour of the Cologne city is a favourite stop along the way. The students are captivated by the local cathedral, which is the only church in Cologne, that survived the bombing during the World War II. However, Jakub Snopek was interested in even something else: ‘‘Public transport, because I like to see how these things work worldwide.“

Students wandered the picturesque town of Mönchengladbach together with a tour guide. "The commentary was very good and interesting," said Igor Chodelka on the topic of the city tour. Dušan Tichý was fascinated by the fact, that the city of Mönchengladbach has two main train stations. "I have not seen any high building out there. The city looked very peaceful and has very patriotic residents. I conclude it by how much they cheer on their local football team. They even wore the Borussia Mönchengladbach T-shirts one day before the actual match, but they also had the club logo all around them; either on buildings or cars,” said Vladimír Oravec.

    VIP football adventure

Enjoying atmosphere of the Borussia Mönchengladbach football match personally is the icing on the cake. Our company keeps its own VIP box at the local football stadium and we are more than happy to lend it to our students. This year’s participants were no exceptions. Fascinating football performance, in which the home Borussia Mönchengladbach fought against FSC Freiburg (3:1), was very exciting for the guys. All concluded, that it was their favourite part of the whole trip. As a souvenir, they took home a fan scarf and a photo with the defender Nico Elvedi.

Why should the students attend the excursion with Scheidt & Bachmann?

Bc. Dušan Tichý: “I would recommend this excursion to everyone primarily because of the experience, football match and VIP box, which is not easily accessible.“

Bc. Tibor Poštek: “They know more about the Scheidt & Bachmann company. Before I attended the excursion, I‘d thought, that the company only produced parking systems. You also get to visit Germany, know some new people and, of course, you can watch the Bundesliga football match from the VIP box – which does not happen everyday.”

Bc. Jakub Snopka: “The excursion brought me a lot of adventures and information, which opened my eyes. I do not know what more to recommend. They take you to Germany and you don’t have to take care of anything – regarding transport, interesting presentations about the company and you also get to travel!“

Ing. Zdenko Pavlík: “They get to know products, that we develop and how it looks like, when they are produced and installed. They also get to know the employees also outside of their working time. They are great people. In addition, they look after you and it seems like a nice all-inclusive vacation.“
